Cornelius is pleased to announce that a new study has demonstrated the performance of Shark Solutions A/S PVB (polyvinyl butyral) dispersion as a dust binder for concrete. Shark's PVB Dispersion is a waterbased system that can be used to extend the lifetime of concrete after application to the surface, where it maintains structural integrity and minimises wear. Furthermore, the PVB is recycled from car windscreens then purified, so its inclusion can enhance the "green" credentials of a formulation. Shark Dispersion is available through Cornelius in the UK. On the 21st February 2012, Cornelius Marketing Manager Natalia McDonagh gave the talk to Anglia Ruskin University students on the employability aspect of their education process. The interactive talk "Getting THAT job- succeed in the Marketing and Business Management profession" provided practical advice from the industry professional, something that the students really value and that is increasingly important in the current environment. The talk was very well attended, as students from a range of disciplines were able to pose questions on what it is really like to work in a company, the opportunities a company like Cornelius offer, and learned how to better prepare for entering their chosen profession. Cornelius employees Danielle O'Connor and Nick Brown last week presented local animal shelter Mutts in Distress (http://www.mutts-in-distress.org.uk/index.php ) with a cheque for UKP310 following some festive fund raising at the company. Responding to a newspaper plea for help from MiD, Danielle and Nick organised a 'Cornelius Pug Quiz' in early December, followed by a vociferously competed 'Snatch Raffle' at the Christmas party. Cornelius would like to thank the local businesses who kindly donated raffle prizes, along with the company's staff for their enthusiasm and generosity in raising these funds. Having visited Mutts in Distress, Danielle & Nick were able to see first-hand the great work that Pat and her staff do every day to improve the lives of the animals in their care, and also meet a couple of the residents (below)! The product, named G312, has the chemical name gamma-Glycidoxypropylmethyldiethoxysilane. G312 is used as a coupling agent for unsaturated polyester-fibreglass composites, for polyurethane and polysulphide sealants, and can also be used as an adhesion promoter in water-based systems. Cornelius demonstrated their commitment to their corporate social responsibility policy this week by attending the career's fair at Birchwood School. Cornelius were one of a number of organisations that gave up their time to talk to the students and to pass their knowledge on in the hope it will assist them to choose their career path. Not all the students would have left the career's fair knowing which path to take but, hopefully, some seeds were sown which will inspire them to do well in their studies. Cornelius think it is important to support their local community, especially schools and universities, by providing work experience and attending career's fairs as the students could be future employees or customers of the company.
